Naulakha Temple

Naulakha Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Deoghar, Jharkhand, India. It is one of the significant pilgrimage sites for devotees of Radha - Krishna. It's height is 146 feet. The temple is situated on the western side of Deoghar town 1.5 k.m. away from Baba Baidyanath Temple, atop a small hill called Naulakha. This temple looks like the temple of Ramakrishna in Belur. The name "Naulakha" translates to "nine lakh," which refers to the estimated cost of construction of the temple during its time.

The Naulakha Temple was built in the 18th century by Queen Charushila. The temple's architecture showcases a blend of Mughal and traditional Hindu architectural styles. 

The main deity worshipped at the Naulakha Temple is Lord Shiva, in the form of a Shivalinga. The temple also houses other idols of Hindu gods and goddesses, including Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Ram.

The temple attracts a large number of devotees, especially during the holy month of Shravan (July-August), when the famous Shravani Mela takes place in Deoghar. During this time, devotees undertake a pilgrimage from Sultanganj to the Naulakha Temple, carrying holy water from the Ganges River to offer it to Lord Shiva.

Apart from its religious significance, Naulakha Temple also offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas, including the Deoghar town and the nearby hills. Visitors can enjoy the serene ambiance and experience a sense of spiritual tranquility while exploring this ancient temple.

  2. By Train: Deoghar has its own railway station called Jasidih. It is well-connected to major cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, and Varanasi. Several express and passenger trains operate on these routes, making it convenient for travelers to reach Deoghar by train.

  3. By Road: Deoghar is connected to various cities in Jharkhand and neighboring states through a network of well-maintained roads. National Highway 114 passes through Deoghar, making it easily accessible by road. You can hire taxis or take buses from nearby cities like Ranchi, Patna, Kolkata, and Jamshedpur to reach Deoghar.
