Shanti Niketan, is a small town located in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, approximately 152 km from north of Kolkata, India. It was established by Maharshi Devendranath Tagore, It is renowned as a cultural and educational hub, primarily due to its association with the famous poet and Nobel laureate his son Rabindranath Tagore whose vision become what is now university town with the creation of Visva Bharti. Shantiniketan translates to "Abode of Peace" in English, reflecting the tranquil and serene environment of the place.
